Drawing

Tool What it draws
Select Nothing. Click a shape to select it, and drag it to move it.
Rectangle A box. Drag from one corner to the opposite corner.
Ellipse An ellipse that fits the box you drag.
Diamond A diamond that fits the box you drag.
Line A straight line from where you press to where you release.
Arrow A line with an arrowhead. You can bend it after you draw it.
Freehand A pen stroke. Press harder on a tablet for a thicker line.
Text Text. Click where it starts and type.

After you draw a box, line or arrow, Rúfol selects it and switches back to Select. Freehand stays active, so you can draw several strokes in a row. Click once with Freehand to draw a dot.

  1. Choose Select.
  2. Click a shape to select it.
  3. Drag the shape to move it.

A selected box or freehand stroke has eight handles. Drag a handle to resize the shape.

  • Hold Shift to keep the shape’s proportions.
  • Hold Alt to resize from the centre.

A selected line or arrow has a handle on each point instead. Drag a point to move it. An arrow also has a handle in the middle: drag it to bend the arrow.

A selected box shows a round handle above it. Drag the handle to turn the shape around its centre. Hold Shift to turn in steps of 15°.

  1. Press T or choose Text.
  2. Click where the text starts, and type.
  3. Press Esc or click elsewhere to finish.

Double-click a text to change it. Double-click inside a rectangle, ellipse or diamond to write in it. The text wraps to fit the shape, and the shape grows taller when the text needs room. Text uses the stroke colour, which you pick in the style panel.

Drag an arrow’s end over a shape. The shape lights up in yellow, and when you release, the arrow sticks to it. Move the shape and the arrow follows.

Select several shapes and press Cmd+G (Ctrl+G on Windows and Linux). A dashed box shows the group, and a click selects all of it. Double-click a shape in the group to work on that shape alone. Cmd+Shift+G ungroups.

  • Cmd+C copies the selection, and Cmd+V pastes it centred on the pointer.
  • Cmd+D puts a copy just beside the selection.

Cmd+S downloads the board as a .rufol file. Cmd+O opens one and replaces the board. If the file is not a Rúfol board, Rúfol says so and leaves your board as it was.

Select a shape and press Delete or Backspace.
